new work restrictions – what will the office look like with the new coronavirus rules

we were all eagerly awaiting news from the prime minister about the next actions for covid and now that the coronavirus level has been moved from level 3 to a more dangerous level 4, things are changing again for offices.

as restrictions were starting to lift and more workers coming back into the office or workplace as more shops/restaurants were opening, we have now all had to take another step back. many workers are now confused about whether they are now expected to be in the office or not!

here is what we understand:

The Prime Minister announced that from the 24th September people will be encouraged to work from home where possible, but what does this mean?

The government are aware that there are many jobs that can’t be performed from home and that leaves us confused, but in this instance, people are allowed to return to workplaces as long as they are following COVID secure guidelines.

If you can effectively work from home this winter, such as office workers, the government have asked that you should do so.

Public sector employees working in essential services, including education settings, should continue to go into work where necessary.

If you cannot work from home you should go to your place of work.

Things will change in the work place too:

The government have said that Business and organisations with now face stricter rules by making their promises COVID secure.

From 28th September:

Businesses could face fines of up to £10,000 for repeat breached, if their venue is not COVID-19 Secure

Employers must not encourage anyone that has needs to self-isolate to come to work

Businesses must remind people to wear face coverings where mandated

As we all continue to make adjustments and adapt to the current climate, there are possibilities and opportunities being created for those who remain open-minded and forward thinking. The team at Chace People are here to advise on your future path and to help with current roles which your skills may be transferred to!
