World Travelling Governess / Governor Job

The Chace People team is looking for an experienced Governess/Governor to join our lovely international VIP client, a young family of four, for a once in a lifetime two-year trip around the world with their two children who are 5 and 16 years old.

The family will embark on a worldwide adventure at the end of June 2023, aboard a luxury residential cruise ship. They are searching for a dynamic, educationally focused, emotionally intelligent and fun Governess or Governor to engage their boys academically, emotionally, socially, and recreationally during the journey. They are planning to be on board for up to 2 years.

The parents are entrepreneurs who value spending time with their children and who are embarking on this trip to show them new experiences around the world. The older child will be preparing for A-levels onboard and so someone with a previous, proven track record of assisting with this level of studies is a must. The oldest child is thoughtful and mature, and so will need a mentor and someone who is able to have an intellectual conversation, while also playing sports and being able to join in different activities both onboard and shore based. The younger child is bright, funny and easy going, who requires help and mentorship with reading and writing, and for preparation of entering back into the school system at the end of the trip.

As the ideal candidate you will have a genuine interest in children, their early years and further education. Beyond that, the family seeks a creative Governess/Governor who is flexible and easy-going, yet reliable and prepared; a self-starter, who can plan fun activities independently; a warm and kind disposition, but well-practiced at setting and maintaining firm boundaries; a comfortable, self-reliant traveller with common sense and ideally a foodie!

You will be part of the family and will be well taken care of, however with professional boundaries, with your own private studio apartment on board to unwind and have your own space when not on duty. Someone with a creative streak and ideas for documenting this family adventure for - and with - the children would be ideal.

This position is both rewarding and demanding. The amenities on this fully residential, luxury cruise ship is unparalleled and largely available to the Governess/Governor. The ports of call and activities are exceptional in opportunity and scope; however, a life of continuous travel far from home can be stressful. A flexible, service mindset and the ability to be happy far from home is critical.

Position Details:

• Hours/Schedule: The schedule is variable and sometimes unpredictable, but around 40 hours a week are expected of you, with flexibility. Your schedule will be discussed upon successful application.
• Live-in/Live-out: The Governess/Governor will be provided with a private, studio apartment onboard.
• Compensation and Benefits: A competitive salary, commensurate with experience on a self-employed basis.
